Alan Spackman works in painting and photography.
He has maintained a studio practice exhibiting professionally for over 30 years since 1983 where his work explores the intersection of representation and abstraction. He has held solo shows across Sydney. His work is held in various private collections.
His current studio practice is scheduled for a summer exhibition 2019.
He is also currently a contract educator and visitor services officer for Sydney University Museums and writes programs for adults and school education programs. He researches gallery talks on current exhibitions to community groups and schools. He has written and programmed University campus walking tours of the Modernist public art collection of paintings, sculpture and architecture.
He holds a Masters in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Visual Art in Painting. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Wollongong and Diploma of Visual art from Sydney College of the Arts.
He is a member of the (NAVA) National Association Visual Arts; (ICOM) International Council of Museums; The Art Gallery of NSW.
